Barford Equipment Ltd.

In 1840 Barford and Perkins started manufacturing rollers/compactors and agricultural equipment going on to be market leaders in this area. A short time later in 1850 Aveling & Porter commenced production of steamrollers going on to be a giant of the industry. Although market leading companies, in 1932 both Barford and Perkins and Aveling & Porter experienced financial difficulties which resulted in ownership being transferred to Ruston and Hornsby resulting in the creation of Aveling Barford in February 1934.
